How this list was made
We searched YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Apple Podcasts, Reddit and the surviving English-language Cyprus forums for people covering moving to, living in and retiring to Cyprus, then kept the ones with a real audience and evidence they are still publishing. We favoured people who live here over people who visited, and material for adults planning a permanent move over holiday and nightlife content. We covered both the Republic of Cyprus and Northern Cyprus, and every card says which side it is about.
Audience figures. Every YouTube subscriber count was read off the channel's own page on YouTube on 17 September 2026. Every Instagram follower count was read off the profile itself on the same day. Every Reddit member count came from Reddit's own API on the same day and is exact, not rounded. Podcast episode counts and latest-episode dates came from Apple's lookup service rather than the rendered Apple Podcasts page, which reports dates wrong by one to two years on most shows we have tested. Only the four TikTok follower counts are approximations, read from Social Blade on 17 September 2026, because TikTok would not serve us the profiles.
On the YouTube cards. Each card carries a real video with a real upload date taken from the channel's own feed, then confirmed by YouTube's oEmbed service to belong to that channel. One card has no date: Alp Galip's Cyprus films sit further back than his public feed reaches, because the channel now publishes worldwide travel. Three titles were trimmed of emoji, hashtags or an ampersand. No video id was changed.
The commercial problem, which on this island is the whole story. English-language publishing about Cyprus is dominated by people earning a fee on your decision. For Northern Cyprus that is estate agencies and developers: we rejected North Cyprus International, North Cyprus Property, WhatsOnInTRNC, Tekce, the-northcyprus.com, tolerance-homes.com and a run of handles that read like lifestyle accounts and are agencies. For residency and tax it is law firms and accountancy practices: every detailed English explanation of the pink slip, Category F, the yellow slip and the non-dom regime that we could find was published by somebody selling the application or the return. There is no independent explainer of any of it. We also rejected cyprustaxlife.com, which ranks for all of those terms, has no named author and funnels readers to a paid advisory.
Things that look right and are not. The freshest-looking Cyprus podcast anywhere is Cyprus Travel Podcast with Andreas Georgiou, 47 episodes and publishing weekly; its feed is feed.paris2tokyo.com and the same operator runs format-identical shows for a dozen countries with invented local hosts. It is an AI content farm and it is not on this page. The same operator now publishes on YouTube. Separately, the Instagram account @cyprustourism is not the tourism board: the official one is @visitcypruscom, and we have said so on the card. Cyprus Beat, a daily Cyprus news podcast with over a thousand episodes, has published nothing since November 2025 and appears to have been machine-generated read-outs of Cyprus Mail copy. cyprusbusinessmail.com still resolves and serves 2016 content. cyprus44.com, once the genuine hub for the north with 830,000 posts, closed in March 2012 and still ranks, which is why people keep recommending it.
On the region filter. Six regions, and the tag counts are uneven for a real reason. Nationwide 31, Northern Cyprus 10, Paphos 8, Limassol 2, Larnaca 2, Troodos 1, Nicosia 1. Paphos is where the English-speaking movers actually go and the creator field reflects that. Nicosia, the capital, has a single entry, and Famagusta and Iskele have none. Note the known behaviour of the region filter: selecting a region hides the cards tagged nationwide, so on this page a region chip shows you between 1 and 10 cards. Cards are tagged to the place that card's own content concentrates on, not to where its author lives.
What is not here, because it does not exist. There is no English-language Instagram account of anybody documenting their own move to Cyprus at any scale; we looked hard and the relocation content that does exist is either commercial or in German. There is no independent English reference on Northern Cyprus property or title deeds, in any medium, which for a market with known deed problems is the most consequential gap on this page. There is no neutral explanation of the GESY entitlements a newly resident 60 year old actually has. The city subreddits people recommend are effectively empty: r/limassol has 481 members, r/trnc 386, r/Nicosia 329, r/Larnaca 120, r/CyprusExpats one, and r/Paphos does not exist. Facebook publishes no member figure for any Cyprus expat group, so the one Facebook card here carries none.
Instagram and TikTok
Nineteen accounts, and the shape of this section is the finding. Seven are official tourism boards or ministries, three are newsrooms, and there is no English-language account of anyone documenting their own move to Cyprus at any scale. We searched hard for one. It does not exist. Every Instagram follower count here was read off the profile itself on 17 September 2026. The four TikTok figures are Social Blade approximations because TikTok would not serve us the profiles.
Cyprus
An unattributed account showcasing the island. It takes paid features and collaborations and says so in its bio
129,000 followers, the largest Cyprus-specific account we could verify, and the one that sets the mental picture most people arrive with. Captions run in English and Greek throughout. Engagement is healthy rather than bought, at around 3 percent. Useful as a wide view of what the island looks like when it is being sold to you, which is worth knowing before you go and look at it yourself.
Visit Cyprus
The Deputy Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Cyprus. Confirmed official from the ministry's own site and the account bio
122,000 followers and 4,628 posts. The government's own English-language account and the one to follow rather than the ministry's corporate handle, which posts mainly in Greek. Villages, beaches, mountains and seasonal events, so it is a reasonable way to keep an eye on what is happening in a given month while you are still deciding. No commercial interest.
Northern Cyprus News
A high-volume English-language news aggregator for the north. Its bio offers advertising and promotion placements, so it sells space
82,000 followers and around 13,000 posts, posting several times a day in English. It is the most reliable way to see what is actually happening in Northern Cyprus day to day: policy, courts, infrastructure, prices. It is an aggregator rather than original journalism and it takes paid placements, so read it as a feed rather than as an editorial voice. There is no better English alternative for daily news from the north.
Exploring North Cyprus
A photography account covering the north. We checked specifically for property content and found none
43,000 followers. In a northern field where almost every English-language account turns out to belong to an estate agency, this one does not, which is why it is here. Landscape, coastline, villages and food across Kyrenia, Famagusta and the Karpaz. Captions are paired Turkish and English rather than English only, so you will be reading half of it. Worth it for an honest look at the places the property adverts photograph.
Cyprus Tourism
NOT the official tourism board, despite the name. Visit Cyprus is @visitcypruscom. This account takes paid collaborations and hotel promotion
37,000 followers and 1,532 posts, in English. We have put the disclaimer first because the handle is the single most misleading thing we found in this research: it reads official, ranks like official and is not. The content itself is decent enough as a places-and-events feed. Just do not take anything on it as a government position, and check hotel and venue posts against somewhere that is not paid.
Eddy Nassar
Founder of MICA, a paid Cyprus community and relocation business, and of a second venture. He runs branded events and takes brand partnerships
32,000 followers with around 3.7 percent engagement, which is genuine rather than inflated, and he was profiled by the Cyprus Mail in December 2025. He is the strongest English-language relocation voice on Instagram for Cyprus and he is also running a business that sells access to exactly what this page gives away. Both things are true. Listed because the material is good and the conflict is declarable, not because we are neutral about it.
The Cyprus Mail
The English-language newspaper of record in the Republic, publishing since 1945
27,000 followers, posting several times a day. The quickest way to keep a daily eye on the Republic from abroad: planning and construction rows, electricity prices, health service capacity, court cases and the politics behind all of it. The website is free and unpaywalled, which for a newcomer trying to research a move is worth more than the follower count suggests.
Visit North Cyprus
The Ministry of Tourism of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The bio states this and points Turkish speakers to a separate handle
19,000 followers and 692 posts. Deliberately the international and English-facing account, which is unusual in the north and useful. It is the one institutional source on the northern half of the island that is not trying to sell you an apartment. Note the wider context: the United Kingdom does not recognise the TRNC and British consular help there is limited, which the Foreign Office guidance listed further down this page sets out.
Cyprus foodies
Three friends reviewing restaurants and tavernas across the island. They accept restaurant collaborations
19,000 followers and 1,036 posts, in English, posting through September 2026. Heaviest on Limassol, Nicosia and Protaras. Eating out is one of the few costs you can research properly before you arrive, and this is the most consistent English-language record of where it is worth doing and roughly what it runs to. Treat collaboration posts as advertising.
in-cyprus by Philenews
The English desk of Phileleftheros, the largest media group in Cyprus. Successor to the Cyprus Weekly, whose print edition ended in 2017
16,000 followers and 2,934 posts, updated through the day. The second English newsroom in the Republic and worth following alongside the Cyprus Mail rather than instead of it, because the two have different owners and disagree often enough to be informative. Strong on economy, property market data and government announcements.
Larnaka Tourism Board
The regional tourism board for Larnaca, established 2008. Confirmed official from larnakaregion.com
12,000 followers and 1,418 posts, with English captions and posts within the last few days. Larnaca is the cheapest of the three coastal cities our readers consider and has the island's main airport, and this is effectively the only account covering it consistently in English. Villages, the salt lake, the seafront and the seasonal calendar. No commercial interest.
Pafos Region
The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism, the official body for the Paphos district
12,000 followers and 1,843 posts. Paphos is where most English-speaking movers to Cyprus end up, and this account is the official view of the whole district rather than the town: the Akamas, the hill villages, Polis and Latchi, the Troodos edge. Useful for working out what is within reach if you are considering somewhere quieter than the seafront. No commercial interest.
MyTroodos
The Troodos Tourism Development and Promotion Organisation, the official body for the mountain region
8,610 followers and 699 posts, posting daily. The only account of any kind covering the Troodos villages, which is the part of Cyprus people ask us about when they want cooler summers and lower prices and are willing to accept the winter and the driving. Captions run in Greek and English. If you are considering the mountains, this is the only running picture of them you will find.
Limassol Tourism
The Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company, the official regional body
4,369 followers and 392 posts, with English present throughout but captions running bilingually with Greek. Small for the island's second city and richest property market, which is itself telling: Limassol's marketing energy goes into developer advertising rather than a civic account. Useful mainly for the events calendar and for what the city puts its own name to.
paphoslife
The Instagram side of paphoslife.com, the local information site also listed under YouTube above
3,876 followers but 3,206 posts, which is the ratio that matters here: it posts almost every day about one town. Beaches, tavernas, walks, roadworks, what is open. Small and genuinely local rather than promotional, and the best daily texture available on the town most of our readers are weighing up. No property or agency interest found.
Cyprus Alive on TikTok
The TikTok account of cyprusalive.com, an English-first Cyprus travel and what's-on guide
About 16,500 followers against 406,000 likes across only 59 videos, which is unusually strong reach per post. Note the confusion worth avoiding: the Instagram account at the same name posts mainly in Greek, while a smaller separate handle is the site's English one. The TikTok is the English one. Follower figure is a Social Blade approximation read on 17 September 2026.
Eddy Nassar on TikTok
The same commercial relocation operator as the Instagram entry above. MICA is a paid community and relocation business
About 16,200 followers and 180 videos. The short-form half of the strongest English relocation voice for Cyprus, with the same conflict of interest attached. Useful for quick answers on paperwork and cost; not a neutral source on whether to use a paid service. Follower figure is a Social Blade approximation read on 17 September 2026.
Visit Cyprus on TikTok
The Deputy Ministry of Tourism's own TikTok, linked from visitcyprus.com
About 1,440 followers across 87 videos since 2021, which is small and growing slowly. Listed because it is the genuine official channel and because the alternative for anyone searching TikTok for Cyprus is a wall of property advertising. Set expectations low on reach. Follower figure is a Social Blade approximation read on 17 September 2026.
Larnaka Tourism Board on TikTok
The official Larnaca tourism board, linked from larnakaregion.com
About 1,320 followers and 81 videos, still gaining followers over the last fortnight so it is demonstrably active. The only official Cypriot regional body publishing on TikTok in English. Small, but it is the city our readers most often end up choosing on price. Follower figure is a Social Blade approximation read on 17 September 2026.
